Working together with the community, Local Government and
Industry, Green Plumbers® are promoting more
environmentally sustainable ways of operating.
Both Government and public opinion has begun to shift markedly
on the issue of climate change. It is now widely accepted that
human activity is a major cause of climate change, with increasing
levels of greenhouse gases (GHGs) found in the atmosphere. As a
result, governments worldwide are building on the frameworks first
outlined in the Kyoto Protocol and establishing carbon emission and
renewable energy commodities markets.
Master Plumbers NZ, in collaboration with its Australian
counterparts, are investigating the establishment of training
programs throughout New Zealand designed to assist plumbers in
understanding their role in relation to Environmental & Public
Health, and to provide their customers with up to date information
and advice on:
- latest technology and energy saving appliances
- practical appliance and installation knowledge
- environmental impacts of plumbing services, appliances and
household practices
- consumer information
- energy/water/cost savings (short term and long term cost
comparisons and environmental benefits)
These initiatives include:
Hot water heating, heating & cooling - GHG abatement, customer
service, energy star ratings.
Water sustainability, stormwater management, water conservation,
water efficient products, water recycling opportunities, rainwater,
water audits, international technology & developments.
Local Council and government rebate schemes, solar installations,
solar technology/products.
Grey water, rainwater, water recycling, new developments, new
technology & products, public health and environmental
safety.
Domestic & Commercial Water Auditing, Inspections
& Reporting, Assessment & Strategies.
Sumich Plumbing & Drainage fully supports this training
initiative which will allow an accredited plumber to assist
customers in determining the most efficient products and appliances
for current and future needs - this initiative will help you
develop a plan for reducing water and energy costs while also
improving the environment for everyone.Your plumber will have been
trained in home heating and cooling appliances, hot water heating,
solar hot water, water conservation and water sustainability, water
recycling including rain water tanks, grey water and septic
tanks.
They will eventually be able to assist in comparing the initial
cost and running costs of different appliances so customers can
make an informed choice that is not only cost effective but also
environmentally responsible.
